Samson Dauda shocks the world and wins the 2024 Mr. Olympia Men’s Open Bodybuilding title on October 12.
The highly anticipated 2024 Mr. Olympia Men’s Open Bodybuilding contest for the event’s 60th anniversary has concluded. Finals began on Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. inside the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Samson Dauda overwhelmed the field of competitors to cement himself as the 2024 Mr. Olympia champion, winning a ring, $600,000 and a golden Sandow trophy.
Although this year’s lineup saw some notable dropouts, such as Tonio Burton and Nick Walker, the show still delivered non-stop action with many unsuspecting names cementing themselves as breakout stars. In 2023, Derek Lunsford made history as the sport’s first two-division Mr. Olympia and he was eager to extend his reign over the weekend. However, Hadi Choopan, Samson Dauda, and Martin Fitzwater also had ambitious goals.
During the finals, fans were treated to some telling comparisons. In addition to the three-man war between Dauda, Lunsford, and Choopan, the crowd got behind debutante Martin Fitzwater as well as Hunter Labrada. They both had powerful individual routines.
The smallest of details separated Dauda, Lunsford, and Choopan. They virtually traded poses on stage with Dauda getting the better of some side shots, Lunsford dominating from the back, and Choopan taking over the front poses like the abs and thigh.
After a thrilling night of bodybuilding action, Samson Dauda cemented himself as the 2024 Mr. Olympia winner. Judges awarded Hadi Choopan second place and Derek Lunsford third. Samson Dauda also won the People’s Champ Olympia Award.
